Welcome to my website!
This is where I share my critiques, creations, and confessions as an aspiring writer. Let me tell you more about each of these categories and why they matter to me.
Critiques
I love breaking down pieces of art and writing reviews of them. This is how I learn best (other than by creating). Ever since I was in middle school, I would spend most of my free time digging through reviews of games, films, books, and albums. These critiques helped me understand how these art forms work and what makes them good or bad. They also helped me discover my own tastes and creative aspirations. I hope my reviews can spark some interesting conversations with you.
Creations
As an aspiring writer, I also love creating my own pieces of art. Whether it's a short story, a poem, a film, a piece of music, a script, or a novel, I enjoy expressing myself through art. I also enjoy sharing my process with others, as I find it fascinating to see how other artists work.
How do you get inspired? How do you overcome challenges? How do you polish your work? I hope my creations and peek at my process can inspire you or teach you something new.
Confessions
This is where I get personal. This is where I share the choices I make in my life and how they affect me. This is where I share my successes, failures, pride, and regret. Imagine being able to go back in time and read someone's real-time biography.
Wouldn't that be amazing?
That's what I hope this site to be: a window into my life as an aspiring writer. How transparent or open will I be here? Well, that's a good question. We will see...
And Who am I?
Hi, I'm Anthony Renteria. I'm an aspiring writer who loves film, music, books, and podcasts. Here are some facts about me:
- I'm a terrible pessimist, procrastinator, and overall anxious person. But I'm also a habitual planner, endless dreamer, and playlist creator.
- My favorite musical artists are Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, and Gorillaz. Their music inspires, challenge, and comfort me.
- My favorite films are Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters, Her, and First Reformed. They are all beautiful, complex, and thought-provoking.
- My favorite books are anything by Stephen King and Chuck Palahniuk. They are masters of storytelling, suspense, and horror.
